  • The Worship Team member will prepare music for Sunday morning services and other special services throughout the year. Worship team members will also lead the congregation in worship through singing or playing their instrument. The purpose of the worship team is to glorify God and engage the hearts of the congregation to worship God and grow in their faith.

  • The Adult Bible Study Teacher is expected to teach, reach, and minister to members and guests with the help of other leaders within the group.

    Responsibilities/Duties

    1.      Participate in Teachers’ meetings and training opportunities.

    2.      Work with group Teaching Coordinator and Leadership Team to choose curriculum for your class.

    3.      Study and prepare for each weekly lesson.

    4.      Pray for class members and guests.

    5.      Arrive 15 minutes before class begins to make sure classroom is prepared and to greet people as they arrive.

    6.      Lead each week’s class and involve participants in studying and learning God’s Word through various teaching methods that fit the particular group.

    7.      Promote spiritual growth and unity among class members.

  • Celebrate Recovery (CR) is a Christ-centered, 12-step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain or addiction of any kind. CR is a safe place to find community and freedom from the issues that are controlling our life. This program is for all people groups, internal/external to the church, as we all have hurts, habits, and hang-ups in our lives. CR currently holds regular gatherings on Tuesday evenings that are open to the public.

     

    The journey on the road to recovery is not meant to be taken alone. Similarly, the CR Ministry is not meant to be led alone. The Ministry runs more smoothly when the program is run by a group of leaders. Dividing responsibilities among a group of leaders (the T.E.A.M.) enables the program to help more hurting people. It is not intended that a CR leader “does it all.” However, it is the responsibility of the leadership to supervise assigned areas.

    Responsibilities/Duties

    • 1.      The Training Coach (T), Encouraging Coach (E), and Assimilation Coach (A) all report to the Ministry Leader (M) making up the T.E.A.M.
    • 2.      Responsible for and oversees the entire Celebrate Recovery Ministry.
    • 3.      Helps the T.E.A.M. grow closer to God.
    • 4.      Encourages the T.E.A.M. to maintain healthy recoveries while fulfilling their tasks.
    • 5.      Meets monthly with T.E.A.M. as well as conducts monthly training meetings for leaders.
    • 6.      Works with the T.E.A.M. to recruit new leadership candidates.
    • 7.      Selects and schedules teachers for lessons and testimonies for Large Group meetings.
    • 8.      Meets with the Worship Leader to discuss song selections and special music.
    • 9.      Serves as a main contact with the church staff.

    Responsibilities/Duties

    • 1.      Works with the Training Coach to conduct New Leader Orientation and New Leaders’ Training.
    • 2.      Incorporate the training during your monthly leadership meetings.
    • 3.      As ministry grows, and new leaders rise up, the Training Coach will need to begin scheduling more training at other times during the month.
    • 4.      Partner with the Training Coach to coordinate a training session for the Celebrate Recovery leadership team after assessing the needs of the leaders.
    • 5.      In partnership with the Training Coach, trains and develops the leaders for Open Share Groups and Step Studies.
    • 6.      Communicates with and supports the small group leaders as directed by the Training Coach.
    • 7.      In partnership with the Training Coach, visits the Open Share Groups and Step Study Groups periodically to ensure leaders facilitate the groups using the Group Formats and Small Group Guidelines.

    1. Successfully complete MinistrySafe Volunteer Process
    2. Lead programming for children in Children’s Church on a monthly basis using provided curriculum
    3. Leaders may choose to create their own lessons around the provided topic and Bible passage or they may show the provided Bible Story Video and use accompanying PowerPoint to teach the lesson
    4. Maintain good crowd engagement through up front leadership and teaching
    5. Maintain crowd control
    6. Help kids do activities, games, and crafts that accompany the lesson
    7. Maintain safety of children at all times
    8. Pray for kids in the ministry regularly

     

     

    Anticipated Time Commitments

    1. Monthly on Sunday mornings during the contemporary worship service
    2. Volunteers are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the service and should stay until after the last child is picked up. Approximately 1.5 hours on Sunday mornings.

     

     

     

     

     

     

  • The Choir member will present special music and hymns as part of Sunday’s traditional worship services when the choir is scheduled and will participate in special services as planned. All of this is for the purpose of glorifying God and engaging the gathered congregation in worship.

    • 1.      Meet in person with up to five requestors one afternoon a month, 1:30pm-4pm, with one other intake member
    • 2.      One intake member will ask questions and take notes, while the other will enter the requestor’s information into a form on the computer
    • 3.      Listen and ask questions as each person shares their story and the reason for their current hardship
    • 4.      Offer encouragement and prayer
    • 5.      Those interested in this volunteer ministry position must fill out an application and complete a background check. Volunteers may have training prior to serving

  • Community Groups exist as the foundational evangelism and discipleship ministry for adults so that adults have a place where they belong in authentic relationships as they engage in the Word with others. The Community Leader may be one person or a married couple. The Leader’s overall responsibility is for the direction of the Group and guiding the Group Leadership Team.

    • 2.      Responsible for the Group Life segment of the Sunday gathering.
    • 3.      Monitor the smaller group and gender breakout structure, schedule, etc.
    • 4.      Communicate information regarding goals, special days, etc.
    • 5.      Serve as a liaison between Pastor and Group and serve on the Group Leadership Team in guiding the Group.
    • 6.      Pray for the Group and help the Group develop a sense of belonging, identity, and unity.
    • 7.      Periodically evaluate the overall Group ministry with the Leadership Team.

  • The Drama Actor will participate in presenting special dramatic elements as part of worship services or other events when scheduled and will learn lines and follow the direction of the Drama Director. The drama ministry is intended to support the preaching ministry of the pastors as they help people grow in faith.

  • The Financial Peace University Leader facilitates regular sessions of this course for the congregation.   • The purpose of the Friends of Ukraine Team is to foster the sister church relationship between First Baptist Church and Spring of Life Church in Kremenchug, Ukraine.

The Guest Follow-Up Visitor is a role two people may fill together. These volunteers will represent Christ and the church and must conduct themselves in such a manner as to positively influence others.

  • LIFEgroups bring hope and support for the challenges of life through authentic, meaningful friendships and the transformative truth of God’s Word. They are FBC’s smaller Pathway Groups in seeking to help people live a Loving Lifestyle as members grow Close to Christ while building authentic relationships. These friendships are a hallmark of LIFEgroups as people find the belonging, support, care, and encouragement they need in life. Group gatherings are relaxed and casual with food/drink, with lessons generally taking on a facilitating approach by the leader with much discussion and application; this leads to personal spiritual formation as people learn to be the hands and feet of Jesus in living out the “One Anothers” of Scripture in accountable relationships. In summary, LIFEgroups are A Place to Become.

    Responsibilities/Duties

    The Men’s Ministry Coordinator will organize and lead a ministry that builds up and helps the men of the church become spiritual leaders and provides an avenue of outreach to men in the community. He will seek to:

     

    1. Regularly pray for men in the church, families in the church whose men do not attend, and men in the community at large.
    2. Organize and oversee the men’s ministry.
    3. Plan special courses for training men to become spiritual leaders in the home, church, and community.
    4. Plan at least one yearly retreat for prayer, fellowship, and encouragement: a men’s rally event, special camp, lake retreat, etc.
    5. Organize Band of Brothers groups that meet regularly for accountability, building relationships and spiritual encouragement through prayer, devotions and sharing.
    6. Plan activities and special projects for men only: prayer breakfasts, church improvement day, fishing expedition, father/son event, softball league, etc.
    7. Develop a mentoring network where spiritually mature men can identify with and give guidance/support to men going through similar situations.

    9. Oversee budget and expenditures for the men’s ministry.

The Teaching Coordinator may be one person or a married couple. The Coordinator’s overall responsibility is for the Teaching Ministry segment of the Sunday gathering.

    Responsibilities/Duties

    1. Develop a teaching team, including substitutes, by recruiting volunteers to teach in the Community Group. The Coordinator may also serve as a teacher for the Group.
    2. With the Pastor and the Group leadership team, develop and implement a training program for teachers: recognize, encourage, train, and motivate Group teachers.
    3. With the Pastor and Group leadership team, research curricula; inform teachers of selection; order curricula; oversee distribution of resources or store them in a designated location for access by leaders.
    4. Set teaching schedule, track curriculum history, and have periodic evaluation.
    5. Work with Pastor, Community Leader, and serve on the Group leadership team in guiding and praying for the Group.

    Responsibilities/Duties

    Vision Team members are responsible for helping to fulfill the Purpose Statement through duties including, but not limited to, the following:

     

    1. Engaging in monthly Vision Team meetings, with additional meetings occasionally necessary depending on the amount of work needing to be finished.
    2. Praying, thinking through, and working on assignments in between monthly meetings.
    3. Lead by example in living out the Mission and Vision.
    4. “Champion” the Mission and Vision within the broader congregation.

    Responsibilities/Duties

    1. Meet regularly with the Women’s Ministry Team to discuss progress, challenges, solutions, and new ideas; plan and lead an annual retreat for the team for the purpose of dreaming and praying over the upcoming ministry year.
    2. Check in with Friends First Quilters Coordinator and offer support, as well as advertising.
    3. Available to talk with women about concerns or needs they may have.
    4. Participate in special events and activities for women.
    5. Pray regularly for the women of the church.
    6. Liaison between Women’s Ministry and the Pastor of Discipleship and Evangelism.
    7. Develop a Women’s Ministry budget to present to the appropriate committee yearly.
    8. Oversee the distribution of funds for Women’s Ministry and keep track of budget expenditures.
    9. Keep the Women’s Ministry page of the church website up-to-date and send out periodic emails to All Church Women encouraging and inviting them to Women’s Ministry events and offerings.
    10. Work with the church office and custodial staff to properly schedule use of the church building.

  • The Worship Center Decorator will coordinate with the Worship and Music Pastor to establish a plan for decorating the worship center(s) for First Baptist. This is to be done in a way that will create a distraction-free environment for the congregation to grow in their faith through worship. They will operate within the allotted decoration budget and will recruit additional help as needed to facilitate the decoration of the worship centers of the church.

  • The Worship Team member will prepare music for Sunday morning services and other special services throughout the year. Worship team members will also lead the congregation in worship through singing or playing their instrument. The purpose of the worship team is to glorify God and engage the hearts of the congregation to worship God and grow in their faith.

    • 4.      Lead the worship team in leading the congregation in worship and in presenting special music during services when scheduled.
