    About This Role

     

    The role of the Worship Leader is to lead all aspects of the musical worship of First Baptist Church, which involves envisioning, equipping, and mobilizing the musical, technological, and creative skills, and talents of volunteers. This role also involves maintaining an effective technology infrastructure with which to accomplish the needs of the worship ministry of First Baptist. The Worship Leader shepherds people in authentic worship through contemporary as well as traditional music styles and assists in all aspects of the creative efforts of the church. This role has a special focus on the aspect of our Mission of “Loving Jesus” and Vision focus of “As we seek God….”

     

    Primary Responsibilities and Tasks

    1. Lead and facilitate musical worship at First Baptist worship services and gatherings.
    2. Serve as the primary worship leader in the contemporary worship service.
    3. Coordinate traditional worship leaders and lead in the traditional worship service as part of a worship leader rotation.
    4. Prioritize time according to need for each service type, recognizing that the nature of contemporary worship warrants more time commitment (midweek rehearsals, more complex music, etc.) than traditional worship to ensure excellence.
    5. Lead worship in a way which eliminates distractions to congregational worship due to lack of preparation or avoidable error.
    6. Recruit, train, and mentor traditional worship leader(s) to give consistent leadership to the traditional service 1 or 2 times per month.
    7. Recruit, train, and mentor contemporary worship leader(s) to give consistent leadership to the contemporary service as needed.
    8. Build, direct, coordinate, and develop the volunteer worship team.
    9. Lead weekly rehearsals for the worship team and schedule team members.
    10. Plan and coordinate weekly worship services, all church-related celebrations, and seasonal events in coordination with the Lead Pastor.
    11. Oversee worship teams, band, seasonal choirs, instrumentalists, accompanists, drama/visual worship, audio/visual technicians, and other related aspects of worship.
    12. Manage the church Planning Center account to organize team members and distribute sheet music and rehearsal recordings in a timely manner each week.
    13. Ensure all needed service content is prepared for seamless operation in worship services, this includes ensuring that ProPresenter, vMix, Restream, and any other worship and streaming software is prepared in advance.
    14. Participate in all staff meetings.
    15. Prepare financial requests to the church Board for audio, video, and/or structural improvement to the Multipurpose room (MPR)/Sanctuary to enhance the worship experience.
    16. Train or facilitate training for musicians.
    17. Manage and maintain the musical instruments and worship technology equipment, keeping up-to-date with developments.
    18. Propose and manage the worship budget in cooperation with the Associate Pastor of Formation and Administration and in accordance with the financial policies of the church.
    19. Develop, coach, and care for all worship team volunteers, investing in key leaders to help them continue to grow and thrive in their areas of ministry.
    20. Recruit soloists and special music musicians to participate in services.

    Secondary Responsibilities and Tasks

    1. Ensure technology needs are met for weddings, funerals, and other special events.
    2. Assist in providing musicians for weddings and funerals as requested.
    3. Be part of the emergency cell phone and Community Care intake rotations.
    4. Additional duties may be requested by the Associate Pastor of Formation and Administration or the Lead Pastor.

    Qualifications

     

    1. Vibrant and growing personal faith in Jesus Christ. This is the most important thing in this and any ministry staff role at First Baptist Church!
    2. Firm commitment to the mission, vision, values, and beliefs of First Baptist Church.
    3. Experience leading congregational worship.
    4. Experience coordinating and guiding musicians.
    5. Experience planning events or worship services.
    6. Knowledge of basic music theory.
    7. Willingness to become proficient and to train volunteers in the use of the following software/hardware, and to remain proficient in technology required for services and service planning. The following is a list of current software and hardware platforms utilized extensively in the worship ministry of First Baptist Church:
      • Planning Center (cloud based organizational and communication software used for scheduling, communication, and music/service order distribution)
      • ProPresenter (Professional presentation software used in the MPR and Sanctuary)
      • vMix (live stream production software used in the MPR and Sanctuary)
      • Restream (cloud based live stream distribution platform)
      • NDI (networking protocol used to connect all live streaming elements for worship services to the live stream computer)
      • Yamaha tf5 Mixing Console (live audio digital mixer used in the MPR)
      • Behringer x32 Mixing Console (live audio digital mixer used in the Sanctuary)
      • Stay current on worship trends and up-to-date on tech needs as they arise.
    8. Undergraduate Degree in Music, Ministry, Worship, Bible, or a related field preferred.


    Your Team

    This position reports to the Associate Pastor of Formation and Administration. It relates to the staff leadership team and supervises the following part-time paid positions: organist(s), choir director, choir accompanist, as well as several volunteer worship leaders and 50+ worship team volunteers. Shepherding, guidance, and support of these team members is vital. 

    Your Schedule

    This is a full-time, salaried position with an expectation of 40-45 hours per week. Thursday evening rehearsals beginning at 7pm are required as well as Sunday mornings. Regular office hours are to be established as well as attendance at Tuesday morning staff meetings.

  • Student Ministries Associate- Jr. High

    30 hours per week

     

    Our Community:

    First Baptist Church is located in Cambridge, MN and is a member of Converge. God has given First Baptist the mission of helping people know, love and become like Jesus. This simple phrase is the backbone of all that we do. Today, First Baptist’s mission is lived out through our 2025 Vision. God has laid the vision on our hearts that as we seek God, He will form us to become increasingly Christ-like and to be family to everyone who needs family. First Baptist is a church of 300-500 that gather each Sunday for worship and study of God’s Word as passionate followers of Jesus with numerous other ministries and groups meeting during the week. It is well known in the community for its generosity and for its student ministries, particularly on Wednesday nights. Our Jr. and Sr. High Youth Group sees around 75 students gather weekly (generally meeting as separate ministry groups) and we look forward to bringing a team member on board who will passionately share Jesus with students, emphasizing ministry to middle school students in the area.

     

    Reporting:

    The Student Ministries Associate – Jr High will report to the Pastor of Children and Student Ministries (Ashley Carlson).

     

    Personal Characteristics Desired:

    • A committed Christ follower, demonstrating spiritual and personal maturity in their faith and life
    • Regularly practicing personal spiritual disciplines such as Scripture study and prayer
    • Has a love of students in 6th-12th grade, with a particular passion for middle school students in 6th-8th grade (Jr. High), and has a strong desire to help them know, love, and become like Jesus
    • Ability to provide engaging, dynamic, and high-energy up-front leadership and teaching to students, and has good verbal communication skills to engage large groups
    • Willing to learn and put into practice creative and engaging teaching methods for middle school students
    • Has ability to build rapport and trust with parents of students and has good communication skills with adults
    • Willingness to listen, receive feedback, adjust, be a team player, and work closely with the Student Ministries Associate of Sr. High, volunteers, and other staff to provide excellent ministry to students
    • Humble, team player who is willing to learn, and desires to grow in ministry abilities through a mentoring relationship with the Pastor of Children and Student Ministries
    • Comfortable recruiting, training, encouraging, and equipping adult volunteers
    • Comfortable working with students in crisis and/or families in need

    Responsibilities of Student Ministries Associate – Jr. High (30 hours / week):

    • Lead efforts in fulfilling the mission of First Baptist Church in Jr. High: “Helping People know, love, and become like Jesus”
    • Lead efforts in fulfilling the vision of First Baptist Church in Jr. High: “As we seek God, He will form us to become increasingly Christ-like and become family to those in need of family”
    • Plan and lead Wednesday night Youth Group and Sunday morning Community Group ministries for the Jr. High Guest leaders and teachers may be recruited to occasionally assist with up front teaching responsibilities
    • Plan and lead special events and retreats for Jr. High students monthly or every-other month and be willing to occasionally attend events and retreats for Sr. High students
    • Be willing to assist with churchwide events where students may be serving as volunteers
    • Work with Student Ministries Associate of Sr. High to plan combined activities and programs between Jr. High and Sr. High students
    • Engage in relational ministry contact work with students outside of church programs
    • Mentor 1+ Jr. High student on a regular basis
    • Give leadership to small group Bible studies such as the Jr. High Student Leadership Team
    • Provide spiritual care to Jr. High students when needed, understanding the need to refer care to professional counselors when applicable
    • Recruit, equip and train adult volunteers to be effective youth leaders within the Jr. High
    • Communicate with students, parents, volunteers, and other leaders on a regular basis
    • Be willing to seek training opportunities and conferences to continue to grow as a minister to students
    • Take part in staff meetings, planning meetings, and work with other staff and leadership teams of First Baptist. Participation is preferred in Tuesday morning all-staff meetings and is expected in a weekly Student Ministries staff team meeting
    • Work with the Pastor of Children and Student Ministries to determine the best 30-hour per week work schedule. As a 30-hour per week job, it is understood this schedule will need to be flexible around your needs. Some daytime office hours will be required 
    • Personally invest in the mission and vision of First Baptist Church

    Salary:

    A salary in the range of $25,000-$32,000 commensurate with a position of this nature will be offered to the candidate based in part on years of experience and education.

    About This Role

     

    The role of the Office Assistant portion of this position is to provide support to the Office Manager, other staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and members/attendees to help them achieve the Mission, Vision, Strategy, and Values of First Baptist Church.

     

    The role of the Digital Ministry Director portion of this position is to guide and manage the overall digital strategy and presence of First Baptist Church in seeking to accomplish the mission and realize the vision. The purpose of the Digital Ministry Director is to glorify God and help people know, love, and become like Jesus through the use of online digital technology, while seeing “likes” and “clicks” become new members of the First Baptist family.


     

    Primary Responsibilities and Tasks

     

    Office Assistant (21 hrs/week)

    Answer incoming calls to the church

    Provide word processing, typing, designing, proofreading, and photocopying services for church staff and volunteers

    Internet use; communication through e-mail and church public Facebook page and private Facebook group page

    Sort/distribute incoming postal mail

    Maintain bulletin boards above mail folders

    Maintain Sunday attendance records and prepare reports

    Research best prices for office supplies and new computers and purchase them for office and staff

    Maintain outdoor electronic sign messages using Venus 1500 software

    About This Role

     

    The role of the Operations Assistant is to contribute to the readiness of ministry areas, physical maintenance, and good appearance of the church by assisting in event setups, general maintenance, cleaning, and floor care. Exterior maintenance including general landscaping, mowing, and seasonal activities such as leaf and snow removal are also significant elements of this position.

     

    The Operations Assistant, serves in their position for the purpose of helping to accomplishing the mission and vision of First Baptist Church as stated above.  For this reason, it is essential that the Operations Assistant be able to agree and work in cooperation with the mission, vision, and values of First Baptist Church.

     

    Primary Responsibilities and Tasks

     

    1.     Work with operations team in setting up spaces for ministry and other building uses.

    2.     General repairs and upkeep in the building.

    3.     Basic remodel and construction activities

    4.     Floor care duties including vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and the operation of larger floor care machinery.

    5.     Mowing, weed whipping, picking up trash, and general lawn care activities.

    6.     Work a rotating schedule for Sunday building responsibilities.

    7.     Assist in seasonal work including leaf and snow removal activities.

    8.     Other duties to assist the Operations Manager
