The Adult Bible Study Teacher is expected to teach, reach, and minister to members and guests with the help of other leaders within the group.

6.      Lead each week’s class and involve participants in studying and learning God’s Word through various teaching methods that fit the particular group.

Celebrate Recovery (CR) is a Christ-centered, 12-step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain or addiction of any kind. CR is a safe place to find community and freedom from the issues that are controlling our life. This program is for all people groups, internal/external to the church, as we all have hurts, habits, and hang-ups in our lives. CR currently holds regular gatherings on Tuesday evenings that are open to the public.

The journey on the road to recovery is not meant to be taken alone. Similarly, the CR Ministry is not meant to be led alone. The Ministry runs more smoothly when the program is run by a group of leaders. Dividing responsibilities among a group of leaders (the T.E.A.M.) enables the program to help more hurting people. It is not intended that a CR leader “does it all.” However, it is the responsibility of the leadership to supervise assigned areas.

Responsibilities/Duties

• 1.      Works with the Training Coach to conduct New Leader Orientation and New Leaders’ Training.
• 2.      Incorporate the training during your monthly leadership meetings.
• 3.      As ministry grows, and new leaders rise up, the Training Coach will need to begin scheduling more training at other times during the month.
• 4.      Partner with the Training Coach to coordinate a training session for the Celebrate Recovery leadership team after assessing the needs of the leaders.
• 5.      In partnership with the Training Coach, trains and develops the leaders for Open Share Groups and Step Studies.
• 6.      Communicates with and supports the small group leaders as directed by the Training Coach.
• 7.      In partnership with the Training Coach, visits the Open Share Groups and Step Study Groups periodically to ensure leaders facilitate the groups using the Group Formats and Small Group Guidelines.

Children’s Church exists to engage kids with fun, age-appropriate Bible lessons during the sermon portion of the Contemporary Worship Service.

Responsibilities/Duties

2. Lead programming for children in Children’s Church on a monthly basis using provided curriculum
3. Leaders may choose to create their own lessons around the provided topic and Bible passage or they may show the provided Bible Story Video and use accompanying PowerPoint to teach the lesson
4. Maintain good crowd engagement through up front leadership and teaching
5. Maintain crowd control
6. Help kids do activities, games, and crafts that accompany the lesson
7. Maintain safety of children at all times
8. Pray for kids in the ministry regularly

Anticipated Time Commitments

1. Monthly on Sunday mornings during the contemporary worship service
2. Volunteers are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the service and should stay until after the last child is picked up. Approximately 1.5 hours on Sunday mornings.

The Drama Actor will participate in presenting special dramatic elements as part of worship services or other events when scheduled and will learn lines and follow the direction of the Drama Director. The drama ministry is intended to support the preaching ministry of the pastors as they help people grow in faith.

Responsibilities/Duties

• 1.      Memorize designated lines in drama scripts.
• 2.      Participate in drama rehearsals as needed.
• 3.      Present selected dramas during services and other events.

The Drama Director organize and direct the drama team in presenting special dramatic elements as part of worship services or other events when scheduled and will recruit actors to participate in selected dramatic presentations in cooperation with the teaching pastor and the Worship and Music Pastor. The drama ministry is intended to support the preaching ministry of the pastors as they help people grow in faith.

The Financial Peace University Leader facilitates regular sessions of this course for the congregation. The leader is the shepherd of the class and is responsible for overseeing or coordinating all class leaders and functions. The leader is expected to teach, reach, and minister to members and prospects with the help of others within the class.

2. Work with Pastor in ordering resources and promoting the class.
3. Study and prepare for each weekly lesson.
4. Pray for class members/visitors.

6. Lead each week’s class and involve participants in studying and learning God’s principles regarding personal finances.
7. Promote spiritual growth and unity among class members.

The GriefShare Support Group Leader will lead a support group to encourage, support, and educate people whose spouse or other loved one has died.

Responsibilities/Duties

1.      Provide spiritual counsel, prayer, and support to widows and widowers and others.

2.      Lead a weekly support group offering spiritual and emotional support, devotional messages, discussion of concerns, and fellowship. May incorporate biblically-based studies on issues of concern.

3.      Plan special seminars or courses addressing areas of concern and need such as handling finances. Some of these seminars might also apply to divorcees and may be held as joint efforts for both single-again groups.

4.      Consider inviting community members who are not church members to participate in the support group. This is a great opportunity to share the love of Christ and draw people to Him.

5.      Research and develop a list of dependable people who can provide services such as financial planning, car and home repairs – preferably someone within the church or whom church members can highly recommend.

6.      Develop your own spiritual life to gain wisdom and spiritual nourishment for ministry and to provide a positive example to others.

The Kids Bible lesson teacher shares God’s Word in engaging and creative ways with children in K-5^th grade in either Kids Community Group, Children’s Church or Kids U.

2. Teach the up-front Bible lesson to children K-5^th grade on a monthly (or more) basis in either Kids Community Group, Children’s Church, or Kids U
3. Using the provided topic and Bible passage, create an up-front message and lesson time that is engaging and dynamic for children and verbally give this message to children
4. Creatively communicate the Big Idea using methods which will engage children such as skits, videos, object lessons, etc.

1. Once per month
2. Volunteers are asked to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the service and should stay until after the last child is picked up

Kids Community Groups exists to create an environment of friendship, grace and community as kids join together to learn from God’s Word.

Responsibilities/Duties

1. Successfully complete MinistrySafe Volunteer Process
2. Teach children about Jesus using provided curriculum
3. Help children do the associated games and crafts
4. Maintain good “crowd control” of a small group of kids with gentleness and patience
5. Seek to build community and connection with the kids in your small group
6. Respond to kids’ questions about Jesus or the Bible with age-appropriate Biblical knowledge
7. Help kids build community with each other through teaching and modeling active listening skills and an environment of friendship
8. Write occasional notes to kids to encourage them outside of church activities
9. Be a good role model in your pursuit and love of Jesus Christ

Anticipated Time Commitments

1. Weekly or bi-weekly on Sunday mornings
2. Volunteers are asked to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the service and should stay until the last child in their small group has been picked up (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes on Sunday mornings in total) 

Kids U exists to reach out to kids in the community by providing a fun, safe place to belong and to introduce them to Jesus.

Responsibilities/Duties

1. Successfully complete MinistrySafe Volunteer Process
2. Lead or co-lead special opportunity outreach classes to children K-5^th grade in order to teach them a new skill or area of interest
3. Teach a special skill or class such as cooking or weaving to children over a 3-4 week time frame on Wednesday nights during the school year
4. Create and teach lessons around your skill or area of interest

Anticipated Time Commitments

1. Once per week on Wednesday nights for 3-4 weeks in a row during the school year
2. Volunteers are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of Kids U and should stay until after the last child is picked up. Approximately 1.75 hours during Wednesday nights.

LIFEgroups bring hope and support for the challenges of life through authentic, meaningful friendships and the transformative truth of God’s Word. They are FBC’s smaller Pathway Groups in seeking to help people live a Loving Lifestyle as members grow Close to Christ while building authentic relationships. These friendships are a hallmark of LIFEgroups as people find the belonging, support, care, and encouragement they need in life. Group gatherings are relaxed and casual with food/drink, with lessons generally taking on a facilitating approach by the leader with much discussion and application; this leads to personal spiritual formation as people learn to be the hands and feet of Jesus in living out the “One Anothers” of Scripture in accountable relationships. In summary, LIFEgroups are A Place to Become.

Responsibilities/Duties

1.      Help organize and start a new group.

2.      Regularly pray for the people in your group.

3.      Plan/recruit others in leading by facilitating a devotional message or Bible study (topical or book of the Bible) for presentation and discussion at scheduled meetings.

4.      Lead in prayer and encourage group participation in prayer.

6.      Help plan special group activities, one or more a year – a meal together at a restaurant, trip to a ball game, fishing trip, picnic, or a game of horseshoes at the last group meeting.

7.      Track group members’ attendance each November for FBC’s Discipleship Pathway.

8.      Check email for regular communication from Pastor of Discipleship and Evangelism.

9.      Report special needs to the Pastor of Discipleship and Evangelism.

First Baptist Marriage Mentors are couples who have been trained in Prepare/Enrich, a tool to help married couples learn and improve skills necessary for making marriages last a lifetime. Marriage Mentors provide regularly scheduled, structured meetings to process through material provided by Prepare/Enrich over the course of six to eight, 60- to 90-minute sessions.

Responsibilities/Duties

• 1.      Receive training in the use and application of the Prepare/Enrich tool.
• 2.      Maintain consistent communication with referring pastors regarding couples in need of mentoring.
• 3.      Once a referral is received, provide consistent communication and scheduling information to assigned couples.
• 4.      Meet regularly with referred couples for six to eight 90-minute structured sessions.
• 5.      Provide follow up to couples and refer to pastors as needed.

The purpose of the Men’s Ministry is to help men build authentic, Christ-centered families and friendships that challenge men to lead courageously, accept responsibility, reject passivity, and invest Eternally.

Responsibilities/Duties

The leader will organize and lead a group of men to provide accountability, biblical direction, and encouragement. The groups are typically between 4-10 men and may include men of the church as well as unchurched men who need Christian influence and want to associate with the group. Leaders will seek to:

1. Regularly pray for the men in your group.
2. Lead your group meetings.
3. Plan devotional message, Bible study, or book to read for presentation and discussion at regular scheduled meetings.
4. Lead in prayer and encourage group participation in prayer.
5. Lead group to share concerns, answers to prayer, struggles, biblical advice and how others have effectively handled temptations and situations.
6. Seek to hold at least one special activity for the group. This could be a meal together at a restaurant, trip to a ball game, fishing trip, picnic, or engaging in a game of some type.
7. Report special needs to the Men’s Ministry Coordinator.

The Standing Free Ministry seeks to thwart the work of the enemy by removing spiritual stronghold in the lives of God’s children and equip them to maintain their freedom in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities/Duties

1. Able to attend ministry appointments scheduled on the first Tuesday of every month.
2. Pray for needs such as salvation, commitment, and re-dedicated lives, protection from evil, wisdom and safety for leaders, special requests, to tear down strongholds, etc.
3. Engage in spiritual warfare through teaching and exhortation.
4. Do not share confidential information with those outside the ministry.

A Student Ministries Community Group Leader strives to “build Biblical knowledge resulting in life application and transformation” in the context of an environment of grace, friendship, and community for students. Leaders contribute to this purpose by teaching and guiding students as we dive deeper in our faith together.

Responsibilities/Duties

1. Successfully complete MinistrySafe Volunteer Process
2. Provide consistent, mature leadership to Jr. High (6-8 grade) or Sr. High (9-12 grade) students on Sunday Mornings
3. Commit to being invested in the lives of the students you are working with
4. Regularly pray for our church and students  
5. Set a spiritual example for students
6. Willing to teach Sunday School on a substitute or planned basis

Anticipated Time Commitments

1. Attending Sunday School Weekly (1 Hour/Week)

Facilitate a time of prayer for the Sunday morning worship services/events of the day on Sunday mornings prior to the first worship service.

Responsibilities/Duties

• 1.      Set up a schedule for having a person lead the Sunday prayer each Sunday. This can be done with the First Baptist church database.
• 2.      Be available as much as possible to pray on Sunday mornings for the worship services, those leading the services, and the pastor that is reaching that Sunday.
• 3.      Obtain the passage of Scripture that is used by whomever is preaching that Sunday and pray that Scripture to start the prayer time.
• 4.      Lead the group in praying for the various ministries of the day.
• 5.      Help the group pray for whomever is preaching at the end of the prayer time.
• 6.      End the prayer time 15 minutes prior to the start of the first worship service.

Anticipated Time Commitments

• 1.      30 minutes on Sunday mornings

Community Groups exist as the foundational evangelism and discipleship ministry for adults so that adults have a place where they belong in authentic relationships as they engage in the Word with others. The Teaching Coordinator may be one person or a married couple. The Coordinator’s overall responsibility is for the Teaching Ministry segment of the Sunday gathering.

Responsibilities/Duties

1. Develop a teaching team, including substitutes, by recruiting volunteers to teach in the Community Group. The Coordinator may also serve as a teacher for the Group.
2. With the Pastor and the Group leadership team, develop and implement a training program for teachers: recognize, encourage, train, and motivate Group teachers.
3. With the Pastor and Group leadership team, research curricula; inform teachers of selection; order curricula; oversee distribution of resources or store them in a designated location for access by leaders.
4. Set teaching schedule, track curriculum history, and have periodic evaluation.
5. Work with Pastor, Community Leader, and serve on the Group leadership team in guiding and praying for the Group.
