From Pastor Jared Gustafson

Welcome to our First Baptist Church website!

We are excited that you are exploring our website, you can scroll down on this page to find information about our staff, what you can expect if you come for a visit, our service formats, what we believe and many other details.  There is also much more information available about our various ministries for children, youth and adults, as well as recovery, care, compassion, and outreach ministries.  Take some time to get to know us through our website and we hope to see you in person soon!

Our desire is to connect with people of all different walks of life in order to help them know, love and become like Jesus. We truly believe that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and that all who call on His name shall be saved. Whether you have just begun to explore what following Christ is all about, or you have been following Him for a lifetime, we are a church committed to helping you take the next step in your faith journey.

Our Sunday morning worship services provide the best opportunity to get acquainted with who we are and what we believe as a church. We seek to glorify God on Sundays through engaging worship and careful study of His Word together. Once here, it won't take you long to realize that we offer many other great opportunities throughout the week for people of all ages to pursue and serve Jesus Christ. We offer excellent programming for children, youth and adults throughout the week with a special emphasis on Wednesday nights. All of these programs are designed to help you develop enduring and authentic relationships with others and, most importantly, with God.

We believe that Jesus has called us to seek Him and be formed by Him to become family to everyone who needs family.  We believe that as we pursue this vision, First Baptist Church will impact this community tremendously between now and 2025! We would love to have you join us and be part of this incredible journey. (To read more about the 2025 Vision that God has called us to click here)

If you do stop by, I would love to greet you in person so don't hesitate to talk to me after a service. I hope to see you soon.

In Christ,

Jared Gustafson

Lead Pastor

Our Staff

The staff of First Baptist Church is privileged to have the opportunity to serve you.

See our contact information below to connect with any one of us.

What to Expect

It is our primary hope that through our services, you will have a life-changing experience with God. To accomplish this goal we have two worship services on Sunday mornings. Each service lasts for approximately 65 minutes and includes inspiring worship, and relevant and practical Bible teaching. Childcare (birth - age 4) is offered during the services and Children’s Church (age 4 - Grade 2) is offered during our 10:30am service.

The Traditional service is held in our Sanctuary and includes an offering as well as a time of prayer, worship led by organ, and on many weeks our sanctuary choir. Words to hymns are projected on a large screen, and videos are occasionally incorporated into the service. The teaching is always based on the truths found in the Bible and will inspire and challenge you in your day-to-day life.

The Contemporary service is held in our Multipurpose room and includes an offering, prayer and modern worship led by a band. Words to songs are projected on large screens, and videos may also be incorporated into the service. The teaching is always based on the truths found in the Bible and will inspire and challenge you in your day-to-day life.

Who We Are

We are a community of Christ followers who believe God has given us the mission of helping people know, love and become like Jesus.

• Know - Helping people come into a personal relationship with Jesus.

• Love - Helping people to love as Jesus loved.

• Become - Helping people to develop the character and priorities of Jesus.

God has also laid the vision on our hearts that as we seek God, He will form us to become increasingly Christ-like and to be family to everyone who needs family.  For more information about this vision, visit the Vision tab here.

God’s Word

We are committed to Bible-based teaching and living. We believe the Bible is the authoritative Word of God, communicates what we believe, shows us how to live, and is used by the Holy Spirit to speak into our lives. As passionate followers of Jesus, we will seek to have the transforming message of the Bible permeate our lives through study and prayer.

-II Timothy 3:16

We are committed to deepening relationships with God, fellowshipping with other believers, and reaching out to those who do not yet know Christ. We believe that our relationship with God is primary and given evidence by our relationships with one another and that loving relationships are at the center of the Gospel. As passionate followers of Jesus, we will nurture our relationship with God and cultivate relationships inside and outside of the church.

-Matthew 22:37-39

We are committed to joyfully accepting God’s gift of grace and generously extending that gift to others. We believe that people matter to God, that the church is made up of broken people saved by grace, that authenticity cannot exist without grace, and that by extending grace to others we are reflecting the very heart of Jesus. As passionate followers of Jesus, we will live authentically, meet people at their point of need and walk along side those on the path of recovery and reconciliation.

-I John 3:16

We are committed to becoming the individuals and the church that God desires us to be. We believe that the Holy Spirit transforms the hearts of those who seek God and intentionally live as disciples of Jesus, that as individuals are transformed into the likeness of Christ the church is also transformed, and that transformation is a lifelong journey. As passionate followers of Jesus, we will utilize every day as an opportunity to become more like Him.

-Romans 12:1,2

We are committed to being generous with the resources we have been given. We believe that generous living is a natural byproduct of a life in transformation and that it removes obstacles for accomplishing the mission to which we have been called. As passionate followers of Jesus, we will use biblical principles to manage the time, talent and treasure God has entrusted to us and we will seek to honor God by caring for those in need.

-II Corinthians 8:5,7

We are committed to reaching out to the world with the message of Jesus Christ. We believe this work starts locally with our neighbors, expands regionally and extends globally. As passionate followers of Jesus, we will reach out to the world by praying continuously, trusting fully, giving sacrificially, serving faithfully and going confidently.

-II Corinthians 5:18,19   Matthew 28:19,20

First Baptist Church is a member of Converge.

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.

We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of all people, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.

We believe that all people sin, by nature and by choice and are, therefore, guilty before God. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are, by the Holy Spirit, made into a new creation.

We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.

We believe that Christians should live for the glory of God and the well-being of others; that their conduct should be blameless before the world; that they should be faithful stewards of their possessions; and that they should seek to realize for themselves and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord's Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that every human being has direct relations with God, and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that each church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; that therefore Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from dictation or patronage of the other.

We believe that local churches can best promote the cause of Jesus Christ by cooperating with one another in a denominational organization. Such organization whether a regional or district conference, exists and functions by the will of the churches. Cooperation in a conference is voluntary and may be terminated at any time. Churches may likewise cooperate with interdemnominational fellowships on a voluntary basis.

We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal felicity of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.
